The only people in the entire country who don’t think that John Kerry botched a joke is President Bush, and his favorite lap dog from FoxNews - Sean Hannity.
Kerry’s biggest mistake about the whole fiasco is the fact that Kerry didn’t apologize immediately for the mistake. Instead, he allowed his ego to get in the way of common sense and took the “I’m apologizing to no one” attitude that makes him appear to be the elitist that he is.
Will “Irak” be John Kerry’s “Dean Scream” ?
Yes, Kerry does also have somewhat of a repeating history of disparaging our troops - however, his past comments had more to do with Vietnam - so you do have to consider the time and era.
By flubbing the joke - John Kerry opened himself up to great criticisms, and quite possibly ruined his chances for the White House bid. Did anyone really expect the Republicans NOT to latch onto this one and ride the wave for as long as they could? For as long as the public could stand it?
Note to self: I found only one conservative blogger who seems to take a rational approach to this thing. Allah has a bit of a list of who is accepting, and who is not accepting, Kerry’s apology. Most of the rest of the right wing blogosphere did the inevitable.
Who expects anything less?
How many times did we hear the Dean Scream - and the resulting commentary and psychoanalysis of it? So much so that I can still hear that scream echoing in my head as if it were yesterday. Kerry is not EVEN running for office - imagine how this will be replayed if and when he does.
Hey, if any Republican would have made the same flub - - the left would have been calling for said Republicans resignation by now.
Not every politican can be a great communicator. Mistakes are made. The other party will latch onto the mistake like leeches and play it to the hilt. This happens from the left AND the right - neither side should be surprised, shocked or awed by the happenstance. Even key Democrats have been distancing themselves from Kerry - - now you know it HAS to be bad!
He should have apologized immediately - - because he didn’t, he screwed himself and his party.
As for me? I already dislike John Kerry. I find him to be an insincere, lacking in any genuine thought, flip flopping snooty individual. Thank goodness I don’t live in MA.
Am I sorry I voted for Bush??
As opposed to voting for his opponent? No.
I do regret that Bush has taken this country where it is today - and is heading, currently. My distaste for Bush and his policies started with the Terry Schaivo case when Congress intervened on a states’ right issue over a holiday weekend. That’s where it started - and, for me, it has been downhill ever since.
Regret? Considering his opponent - I suppose regret is too strong a word.
